Danny was born in Boynton Beach, Florida, on October 31, 1978. He left for his eternal "Land of Make Believe Come True" on June 16, 2004. He came to me and held my hand as he walked into Heaven...
He divided his time between Florida and North Carolina. He celebrated this life, always believing that "everything happened for a reason" and that "God would never give you more than you could handle".
However, as Danny zigged, his life zagged. He could never quite understand why so many people didn't seem to care about the feelings of others. We talked about it for years. Going with the flow of this life was just something that he could not do. He was way too nice for this world~
He was, and still is, truly amazing. He touched the lives of so many that seemed to have had the same struggles as he did, without ever skipping a beat. His fellow man mattered to him. Dean's Purple Heart mattered to him. He was on a mission, and somehow "brought it home to him" a few days before his departure. As we look back on that time now, we find that we are still in awe of all that we had already known about his character. We never took his life for granted, nor did he... He did things without ever realizing that one day, these unforgetable acts of kindness would be the things that beautifully completed his full circle here on Earth and guaranteed him his one way ticket into eternity~
He would say to Dean "Hey, forget that handshake- Get over here and give me a hug"
He would often call me out of the blue and say things like "Hey, Mom- Do you have a minute?? Has anyone told you today that you are just the greatest?? Don't ever forget that I love you more than life,OK"
"I'll call you when I get home- I love you, Mom"
The love letters to Jackie...
The love letters to me...
The love letters to Dean...
He was never happier than when he was giving someone a compliment~
Simply put...An amazing, selfless, young man. He was a "behind the scenes" kind of a guy, forever showing up for one who needed to hear his kind, heartfelt, words of wisdom...
There was never a day that went by that I didn't tell him how wonderful he was...
And so, he lives on...
Danny has given Hope to the hopeless, Strength to the weak, and New Life to the organ donation program in Florida. His sister, Jackie, made the "call" for him, and together, as she carried him to his "forever", they saved five lives~
They are fourteen months apart , connected forever... She knows what to do, what to say, when no one else can. Our relationship with Danny was, and is, flawless... One that we wouldn't change, not for a minute, not for an hour, not for a day, not for a lifetime...A love and a friendship that runs so deep and speaks volumes...We know each other so well and our sweet little Julia and Baby Caroline bring out the best in us all , perfectly wrapped up into two sweet, little miracles, constantly amazing. Julia is always thinking about the feelings of other people, and we watch as Caroline will most definately be the same way...
Danny never expected anything out of an ordinary day, yet he went out of his way to make a difference in the lives of perfect strangers. It made up who he was then, and it is what his memories are made up of now~
Like any other mother here, I do not know how I am walking this walk. As we all know, you can't, nor would you ever choose to "shake" this trip that we now share with them. We are with them still, as we travel down their new Memory Lane~ Danny leaves beautiful signs, letting us know that he is so happy. I believe in the miracle of him, just like I always have~ He is just as involved in our lives, as we learn to travel to his new dimension~
What a ride...
My peace comes from knowing that he loves where he is and how he is...He is so far removed from the many, many cruelties of this life.
I, now, with loving thanks and endless amounts of hope to ALL who know who you are, continue to welcome you into our Magical World of Danny. I could not do this, if not for all of you~
With all the love that our hearts can hold...
